Many WIC appointments can be completed by phone, in person, or online. During your pregnancy and throughout your baby’s first year, you will meet one of our WIC counselors every 1-3 months. Once your baby turns one, their eligibility will be reassessed each year. If your family remains eligible, you will have at least four WIC appointments per year, which will a be a combination of meetings with one of our WIC counselors and classes.
Appointments with our WIC counselors can be conducted by video, phone, or in person. Class appointments are available online or via Zoom. Be sure to inform your WIC counselor of your preferred appointment method during your next contact!
Once we receive confirmation that your lesson has been successfully completed, we will proceed with renewing your benefits. However, please be aware that the renewal process may not be immediate. If you have any questions regarding the timing of your benefit renewal or need further clarification, feel free to reach out to us directly for assistance. We are here to help ensure a smooth process.
The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is designed to support a diverse range of families that meet specific income guidelines. This includes married and single parents, whether they are employed or not. Families already enrolled in Medi-Cal/Medicaid, CalFresh/SNAP, or CalWorks automatically qualify for WIC assistance.

During your phone enrollment appointment, you will also learn about your rights and responsibilities as a WIC participant. Additionally, you will receive a list of resources for your family and a reusable California WIC Card, which can be used to purchase healthy foods. WIC staff will explain how to effectively use your WIC benefits while shopping.
When you go grocery shopping, bring your WIC Card along with your shopping guide. Most grocery stores in California accept WIC, and many of the foods covered by the program are likely already on your shopping list. Look for the California WIC logo displayed in the store’s front window. Depending on your specific food packages and shopping habits, WIC benefits are typically valued at approximately $90 per month per person.
We are committed to supporting you and your family. Every 1 to 3 months, you will have a WIC nutrition education appointment conducted either by phone or online. It’s important to continue using your monthly WIC benefits and to take advantage of the available health education, breastfeeding support, and family resources.
Research shows that families participating in WIC have a lower risk of preterm births and childhood obesity, highlighting the importance of remaining enrolled until your children reach the age of five. Families flourish when they engage with WIC! If you have any questions about the program or how it operates, please feel free to contact us at any time.
